Our stroller had a flat (somehow while we were gone!) so I packed it into the trunk and headed to the bike shop on Tranquille where we could get it fixed. We proceeded to enjoy our walk in downtown North Shore Kamloops instead of McArthur Island Park.

I unloaded Rhiannon’s bike and she rode ahead of me while I tried my best to keep up. Not 5 minutes into our bike ride we were stopped by two police officers who wanted to give Rhiannon a certificate full of goodies for being a good community role model and wearing her helmet on her bike! How cool is that!! We got a free swim pass, a slurpee and 2 for 1 bowling.

Next we hit up the thrift stores on Tranquille with a friend shopping for some school clothes and supplies. I enjoyed Mommy & Me located at 268 Tranquille this has got to be the cleanest and most well laid out consignment shop I have been in. Things were tidy, not overwhelming, which made shopping a breeze and a treat. With an extensive maternity section and somewhat reasonable prices it is definitely a wonderful resource for parents in Kamloops!

My daughter had a playdate this afternoon to visit with a friend she hadn’t seen in ages. The girls played in the yard all afternoon and when I asked them if they would walk to the grocery store with me they didn’t hesitate for a moment! As a matter of fact we essentially RAN the dozen or so blocks to the grocery store, picked up some vegetables and then walked back. The girls were so proud of themselves for ‘not taking the car’ and ‘getting lots and lots of exercise’!! How cute is that?

We certainly have to make a conscious effort to walk more and take our car less these days. Listening to the girls comments got me to thinking about that – our lifestyle, our values and their impacts on our children. We talk the talk but how many of us walk the walk? I know that I don’t always – I suppose all we can hope for is to do our best and hope that we are being good or at least decent role models for our children. Talk to you tomorrow! In all the business I forgot to pick up the stroller!!
