Loading ...Wet & Wild at the Waterslides.
Summer is winding down and before it came to an end I absolutely had to bring Rhiannon to the waterslides. There are two within about an hour and a half drive of Kamloops (since the ones at the Wildlife Park are closed now.) one in Salmon Arm and the other in Vernon. The one in Vernon opened earlier than the one in Salmon Arm so it was off to Vernon for us.
We packed a snack/lunch, sunscreen, towels (I forgot the towels), bathing suits, sunglasses and reading material. There was a ton of parking and it turned out to be a perfect day for it sort of cloudy so not too big of crowds.
Atlantis Waterslides is a relatively small park with 4 big slides, a tube ride, two intermediate slides, two toddler slides and a big wide ramp slide. All of the slides empty into small pools of varying depths from .75 m - 1.25 m. The toddler slides are awesome the only thing that would be nice is a bigger pool play area for kids to play in. Rhiannon (is almost 4) absolutely loved that she could go down the toddler slides completely on her own. She would climb up the stairs, down the slide, play in the pool, climb out, walk around back to the stairs and do it all over again. She must have gone down those slides fifty times.
The two intermediate slides are FAST and I mean fast, I am sure it is possible to go slower but what is the fun in that?! The kids loved to go down between our knees as fast as absolutely possible. At the bottom if I picked the kids up under their arms just before I hit the bottom I usually managed not to drown them or shove them underwater!
Our friends whom we went with actually managed to injure themselves on several of the slides bonking their appendages on various sections of the fiberglass. Our favorite slide would have to be the Zoom Flume A which goes underground part way near the bottom. A close second is Double Trouble which winds down in circles to the bottom. My personal favorite was the intermediate slide B which was so ridiculously fast and short to walk back up to;)At $19.00 for youth & adult and kids being $13.00 (kids 3 & under are FREE) it was quite costly and not something that I would be doing every week or anything but we throughly enjoyed ourselves and it was a great treat for summer. There is a concession and games room for those who are interested or have teens. We sadly didn’t get to check out the tube ride but the older kids looked like they were having a TON of fun!
