A strong earthy, deep-rooted loving red to represent the parents, and a fresh, soft new-born green to represent the young children (the subtle sage green of Kamloops hills). The red leaves of the logo are the parents: a couple, a mother (pregnant as shown by the 'bump' on the leaf) and a single parent. The children are between them and together the entire Kamloops “family' is centred/grounded by one focal point—family living and unity. As a team they present an exuberant yet simple flower... which speaks to a harmonious life and what true beauty really is all about—our relationships with eachother. The logo also evokes a sense of movement... the action and activity of a family in motion, “doing' things together.

The Centre currently operates out of four classrooms leased from School District 73 at David Thompson Elementary in Kamloops. In June 2006 the Centre moved to Bert Edwards Elementary School. The current program format allows visitors a period of time to experiment on their own at any of 120 plus hands-on stations located in two classrooms. A third room is used for demonstrations while the fourth room is used for demonstrations and serves as a basic teaching laboratory with capacity for 32 visitors.

Long weekend here we come. Sort of. Kind of. Not really. But we did spend the day at Paul Lake today. If you are on Hwy 5 and see the Husky you turn right instead of left and that takes you up Paul Lake Rd.

Bring:
Loonies – it costs $3 to park for the day in the provincial park
Good footwear – there is a nice easy trail to be found that wanders through the park.
Swimming gear – whatever that entails for you.
Snacks & Drinks – or even a picnic if you want to stay all day.
A sweater, hat and pants – just in case it is windy like it was today.

The park has lots of parking, running water and washrooms. There are picnic tables and fire pits to be found scattered around the picnic area. There are a few boats available to rent $10/hr or you can launch your own(for free I think). The beach was quite clean and spread out so you can find your little space, the water was pleasant, duck itch again remember and there was an ample supply of seaweed.

We wandered a little farther down the beach to find a trail head that took us 1 km up then 1.6 km over to the campsite and another .6 km back down to the picnic grounds. It was an excellent short easy hike that even my 3 year old(who loves to complain) made it with very little gripe. She actually did awesome and we had a great time!

See you up there!

Thursday was way too hot to do anything but stay inside and do crafts all day long. Which was a nice change off the crazy pace we have been keeping lately!

Friday we enjoyed my new favorite morning ritual of the walk around McArthur island park. Today we wandered down the bank to play along the river’s edge and find random treasures. So nice! I walked from my house this morning and we took a full hour there and back.

What a perfect day warm but not wretchedly hot. For our playdate this afternoon we even managed to sneak in some outdoor playtime and a walk to the park!
