We checked out the Kamloops Provincial Fair this Friday. We picked a terrible day for it. Today would have been gorgeous. However knowing this much we set out in cozy fleece lined jeans, sweat shirts, boots and windbreakers to brave the slightly dismal fall weather. While it was a little cool and a tad damp we enjoyed ourselves as we wandered through the barns and past the corrals. There were lots of animals to see and 4Hers everywhere to ask if they could tell you about their animal while you pet them. We sadly missed the light horse shows for the day but the kids got a kick out of the steer classes! HA!

There was a big tent full of vendors and hiding in the back were fun activities for the kids to do. Rhiannon glued alpaca fur to make an alpaca she could take home. (she wants one, a real one, …did I mention that?) We played lunchtime bingo and talked for a good 20 min to the Kamloops city folks about the new recycling program - I am sworn to secrecy but word on the street is spring 08!

I am so excited about this program. How it will work is that we will all purchase a new bin (there is only one size) with a blue lid. Everything recyclable goes into the bin; all your papers, magazines, cardboard, ALL plastics and food tin. Straight into your bin - no sorting. Oh and NO glass - it breaks and makes a mess of things. The dates keep getting pushed back and I will keep sorting through my landlord’s garbage taking stuff with me to the depots until, what I think, will be Spring 08 - I can’t wait!!

What a gorgeous fall weekend - a chill is definitely in the air and the leaves are slowly turning. We spotted a bunny in butterfly garden at McArthur Island Park this morning. As well as some deer tracks down a bank and along the shore of the Thompson maybe we should start walking earlier so we can spot more critters;) Or not - It is cold enough as it is at 9am!
