A strong earthy, deep-rooted loving red to represent the parents, and a fresh, soft new-born green to represent the young children (the subtle sage green of Kamloops hills). The red leaves of the logo are the parents: a couple, a mother (pregnant as shown by the 'bump' on the leaf) and a single parent. The children are between them and together the entire Kamloops “family' is centred/grounded by one focal point—family living and unity. As a team they present an exuberant yet simple flower... which speaks to a harmonious life and what true beauty really is all about—our relationships with eachother. The logo also evokes a sense of movement... the action and activity of a family in motion, “doing' things together.

Adventures in Kamloops

There is a waterfall on the side of the road when you are driving over the Overlander Bridge. Every time we drive past it I shout “waterfall!” and point. Well every time we drive past any waterfall I do this but we drive past this one ALL the time.

So in the winter people “paint” the waterfall. We have seen it turn a variety of colours with all sorts of techniques and styles. Some of you may recall a few weeks ago someone skillfully painted a beautiful rainbow onto it. My daughter was especially thrilled with this display as it literally looked as though someone had poured “rainbow” onto the hillside. This inspired all sorts of creative discussion about ponies, fairies and magical kingdoms.

Then I got inspired. I had a brilliant idea. WE could paint the waterfall. My daughter almost exploded from excitement and aniticipation. We planned it all out. She painted it in her mind about a hundred times over and then the day finally came – Friday. We packed up our supplies and set out. Our technique will remain a secret because I insist that was half of the fun. But you can view our results here. So for the next few weeks when you drive over the Overlander Bridge think of us and shout ‘waterfall!”
