A strong earthy, deep-rooted loving red to represent the parents, and a fresh, soft new-born green to represent the young children (the subtle sage green of Kamloops hills). The red leaves of the logo are the parents: a couple, a mother (pregnant as shown by the 'bump' on the leaf) and a single parent. The children are between them and together the entire Kamloops “family' is centred/grounded by one focal point—family living and unity. As a team they present an exuberant yet simple flower... which speaks to a harmonious life and what true beauty really is all about—our relationships with eachother. The logo also evokes a sense of movement... the action and activity of a family in motion, “doing' things together.

Over the Labor Day weekend (the first weekend in September), the usually quiet community of Barriere bustles with activity.

The entire community comes together to produce an event that attracts participants from all over Canada!

That event is the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo, and it’s just a good time! Originally begun to “encourage, develop and promote the advancement of agriculture and farm living in the North Thompson River Valley.”, the N.T.F.F.R. is entering it’s 58th year and is going strong!

BC Wildlife Park is glad to host the return of Safari Jeff and Shannon.

The Safaris have been environmental advocates for many years, having promoted the need for conservation and preservation of species long before these issues were the flavour of the week.

They will educate and captivate you with a collection of their creatures (most are representatives of endangered species) such as Sol, a Burmese python, Julius, a spiny green iguana, and Sir Chompsalot, an American alligator.

One of the most popular features of the show occurs after the performance when children can get up close and personal with a few of the animals.

For example, Father Time, the giant tortoise, munching his lunch (mostly lettuce) is always a great hit. All of the reptiles in the show were born in captivity and now receive special care from Jeff and Shannon. Jeff and Shannon also donate their time and efforts to raising money and awareness for different Canadian animal organizations. They also love to spend time sharing their animals at Sick Children’s Hospital.

Safari Jeff, Shannon and their amazing reptiles of the world have performed in malls, science centres, fairs and festivals across Canada.
