Ye Olde Courthouse Players Presents…
Two-Bite Bard – Shakespeare…Kid Sized!

The Kamloops Arts Council has brought back its’ hugely successful Children’s Theatre Program. Katrina Mayne returns as director joined by Simon Walter, Randi Edmundson and Dan Erickson as actors. This year the students have been given the challenge of producing Shakespeare themed children’s plays; for their first production they have chosen to present an adaptation of The Tempest. No worries, although the play is Shakespearean in nature, it has been “kid-sized”! What a wonderful way to introduce your children (maybe even yourself) to Shakespeare. Bring the entire family to Riverside Park, Wednesday to Saturday, from July 2nd to August 15th. The production runs at 1pm and 3pm.

*Please note, there will be no 3pm performance on Thursdays as the Ye Olde Courthouse Players will be busy hosting Theatre Workshops at the Bizarre Bazaar at the Old Courthouse Cultural Centre from 4PM to 6PM. Come and meet the actors and join them in theatre games and theatre-oriented crafts.

Kamloops Highland Games

We are very pleased to announce that the World Pipe Band Champions – The SFU Pipe Band are back to perform at the Kamloops Highland Games with another win under their belt (or kilt)!!!

July 11 will be filled with Scottish music, dance and games. There will be vendors selling their Scottish wares and trinkets, great food, information about the Clans, a beer garden sponsored by the Kamloops Brewing Company, and of course…..the pipe bands and drummers, highland dancers and heavy games competitors.

The KHG are held outside at the lovely Albert McGowan Park. There is plenty of free parking at the Summit Drive Baptist Church (1975 Summit Drive) and Hills of Peace Church (695 Robson Drive).

Everyone is welcome. Come and enjoy a day filled with great music, fantastic dancing, exciting heavy games events…….only as the Scots can do it and remember…….there is a little Scottish in all of us!

$10 adults, $5 kids.

Kamloopa Pow Wow – KIB Arbor at Chief Louis Centre. One of Canadas largest First Nations Festivals featuring traditional Native dancing, arts and foods. This event attracts thousands of visitors from around the world! Everyone is welcome.

Caravan Farm Theatre

Caravan Farm Theatre celebrates its 30th season with guest theatre companies performing on weekends this summer. Wagon rides, pony rides, farm tours and fresh farm dinners are available before the shows, which run July 25, August 1-2, 8-9, 15-16 and 23. The season wraps with a barn dance on August 29.

This July and August Caravan Farm Theatre is presenting a variety of guest theatre companies from Vancouver and beyond, each of whom will perform for one weekend each over the course of the summer. Each theatrical piece will be preceded by an opening act featuring local musicians. Wagon rides, pony rides, and farm tours will be on offer for most nights. Tickets for these events will be a “recession friendly” $15+gst for adults and $5+gst for children 12 and under. This is a summer lineup the whole family can enjoy!

Squilax Pow Wow

The Squilax Pow Wow attracts tourists annually in the third weekend of July. The Pow Wow celebrates the traditions of three local bands. An array of dances, including the jingle dress dance and the grass dance are performed. How to get there: Turn off Hwy 1 approximately 7 km East of Chase (Just over 1/2 hr East of Kamloops)

The Squilax Pow Wow celebrates the traditions of 3 local bands. An array of dances, including the jingle dress dance & the grass dance are performed.
