The other day, the kids and I went into Game On! Interactive Fitness with my Mom and sister.  I had heard about it and wanted to check it out.  I was a little concerned that my kids (2.5 and 5) were too young for the activities in the centre and I explained my concerns to Sheri.  She explained that all but two of the games are great for all age groups, and they can be modified to suit the skill level of the participant, as well as challenge them at their desired level of fitness.  So, you can go just to have fun and be active, or you can go to push yourself and really get a good workout!

She took us over to our first game and set the kids up to play “bug invasion”.  They had a great time and picked up the concept, right away!  The idea was that the kids were to stand on a big pressure-sensitive and fully-lit floor and follow the computer instructions to touch their colour of dots as they moved around the floor.

This picture really shows you how “into it” they got.  That’s some serious air time!!

My sister played a game with them after we had done the rounds (they bee-lined back to bug invasion (pardon the pun)) and H huffed and puffed and said that it really was a great workout.  However, dodging my kids is hard work… How do you think I’m in such great shape – HA!  Sorry, a little off topic…

There were lots of other really cool games that I am looking forward to going back (on June 16th) and trying out for myself!!  There was one (at which I was absolutely terrible) where we stood on a pressure pad and had to move forward and move around obstacles by running on the spot.  There was a Wii and lots of other interactive games.  This one (below) really struck my son’s fancy.  It is a surround-system of three pillars that have a set of lights and speakers connected on each.  You move and touch each light as it is lit to trigger the next one (it hums to help you locate it).  What a neat Karate workout that would be!

My wee man enjoyed watching his older siblings from the set-up of six dance dance revolution boards.  Dance off, anyone??

And the last one that I want to show you is this one.  If you look into the screen you can see how excited my daughter was to “wash the windows” and uncover her face!!  She was giggling the whole time.

It’s amazing to see at how quickly my techno-savvy children picked up on each of the games, as they were explained.  Sheri was great with them and has said she’s got some great staff to work with and explain things to little guys.  Game On is open weekdays except Monday and is open on weekends, as well.  There are lots of times that you can go and enjoy the facilities with your family, or with your friends!!

So, in my opinion, Game On Interactive Fitness is totally family-approved.  It’s great for kids of all ages, clean and easy to move around in.  All the activities that we tried were fabulous and the kids had a great time!  They keep asking to go back and try it out again.  And, we will…
