July Family Events From KamloopsParents.Com

KamloopsParents.Com is pleased to introduce two great events for the month of July.

On the morning of July 17th there will be a family disc golf lesson and play time at the Kamloops Disc Golf Club at Rose Hill.

On July 18th, we will have a family fossil hunt at the McAbee Fossil Beds near Cache Creek.

Ongoing Events

  • Music In The Park is playing, nightly at the Riverside Bandshell from 7 – 8:30pm.
  • Children’s Summer Theatre in Riverside Park plays every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday afternoons at 1pm and 3pm. Then, at the Old Courthouse at 1pm every Thursday.
  • The North Shore Market starts up on May 21st. This event runs from 4 – 8pm, every Friday until October, in the new Spirit Square on the North Shore.
  • The Bizarre Bazaar is held every Thursday, until August 27th, from 12pm to 7pm at Kamloops Old Courthouse. The Bizarre Bazaar is a fabulous showcase of local crafters, artisans as well as performers and entertainers. From 3 to 5 every Thursday, there will be a family-friendly art lesson presented!
  • Saturday morning Story and Craft time at Chapter’s from 11am to 12pm
  • Kamloops Public Skating at local rinks. The schedule is subject to change, call 250-828-3387 for more information.
  • Big Little Science Center Drop-in
    10am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday at Bert Edwards Elementary (722 Windsor Ave) with a show at 1:30pm. More information, contact 250-554-2572
  • Kamloops Gymnastics & Trampoline Center – FAMILY DROP IN SUNDAYS 4 – 6PM
    Supervised Open Gym time for the whole family to enjoy! Only $15 for 2 hours of family fun!!! Second visit: $25 Registration Membership Fee Due for each family member.
    Purchase Membership Fee online and receive 2 free family drop in visits!!!
  • The Farmer’s Market is open Saturdays from 8am to 12pm between 2nd and 3rd Avenues on St. Paul Street. Also, on Wednesdays on Victoria Street between 4th and 5th Ave from 8:00am to 2:00pm.
  • Kids Run Bike Races are held on every Race Night (Thursdays) at the McArthur Island BMX Track. There is no cost to participate, but you must pre-register between 5 and 6pm and racing starts at 6:30pm. Kids get to go out 3 times on their run bikes (once before the big races start and then twice during intermissions) and they give out a little trophy at the end.
  • Summer Storytime happens Thursdays from 10:15 – 10:45am at the Kamloops Library and Fridays from 10:15 to 10:45am at the North Kamloops Library.

July 1st to 7th

Canada Day at Riverside Park! There are lots of great events and activities to enjoy. A full day of entertainment ending with fireworks at 10:30pm.

The Sun Peaks Fire Hall is having an open house from 11am on July 1st. There will be lots of great demonstrations happening and a BBQ at 12:30. Contact: Sun Peaks Adventure Centre 250-578-5542 for more details.

For your (night-owl) young train-lovers, the Canada Day Train will be sure to thrill. Train departs at 9:30pm.

The North Shore Market

happens every Friday from 4 – 8pm in the Spirit Square on the North Shore. Stop by and see some great local crafts, local produce and have an evening out with the family.

The Farmer’s Market, itself, is a weekly Saturday event (on Wednesdays, too) and is a fantastic place to be. You can pick up locally grown produce (in season), flowers and baking as well as all your seedlings and garden plants. Also, every Saturday through the summer, St Andrew’s on the Square hosts the Artisan’s Square with local artist showcasing their work.

The Spirit of Kamloops train departs at 7pm on July 2nd and at 11am on July 3rd. Call 250-374-2141 to reserve your spot and find out more times throughout the summer.

Sun Peaks Canada Day celebrations are happening on July 3rd and 4th. There are lots of great things going on in the village. Check it out

Your school-aged child can register to build their own castle birdhouse at RONA, on July 3rd. There are two times to register for, call RONA today to book your spot.

Sun Peaks is also hosting the Yeah Bro! Bike Races on Sunday, July 4th. Contact guestservices@sunpeaksresort.com for more information.

The Big Little Science Centre is open for summer hours, starting on July 5th, from 10am to 4:30pm. They have a special show happening at 1:30pm every day, at 711 Windsor Avenue.

Sagebrush Theatre will become the home of

Disney’s Mulan Jr on July 7th. Call 250-374-LIVE to get your tickets.


July 8th to 14th

The Bizarre Bazaar

is happening every Thursday from 12pm to 7pm. There is a special drop-in art class for families happening between 3 and 5pm, at the Old Courthouse.

AAA Provincial Swim Meet

is happening at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre on July 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th. Stop by and cheer on some provincial competitors or volunteer to get involved.

The 38th Annual Kamloops International Baseball Tournament is going on at Baseball fields in Kamloops. Enjoy the game!

Family Fun with Literacy Games Nights

are happening on July 8th and 9th at 6pm. At Riverside Park on the 8th and at McDonald Park on the 9th, stop by and have some fun.

Kamloops Museum & Archives is having a Grand Opening of their new Children’s Museum. From 9:30am to 4:00pm stop by and check out the incredible events planned for July 10th at the Museum and at St. Andrews on the Square.


July 15th to 21st

Seek The Peaks Geocaching Weekend is on July 24th and 25th for those that are interested in finding out more about this interesting sport. Families can try it out on Saturday and compete on Sunday!

Free Outdoor Movie at McDonald Park on the evening of July 25th.

Michael’s is hosting a free family summer fun activity on July 31st from 10am to 2pm, while supplies last.

Celebrate BC Day at Sun Peaks with fun family events on July 31st and August 1st.
