Once again, we were out and near melt-down.  The kids were hungry, tired and getting to the edge.  So, what’s a good idea?  Oh, let’s eat out!  Trouble… waiting to happen, right?

So, we went to East Side Mario’s, off Aberdeen Mall.  We asked for a table for five, with one high chair, please, and two boosters.  They were able to accommodate us so well and sat us somewhere we could easily fit and still have reach of the children.  Because that is important!  We were still unsure of how our evening was going to pan out as we we needed to be off to our next destination within the hour.  As we sat and got comfortable looking at the menus, our waitress came up to us.  She smiled, cocked her head to the side (which is totally the “awww cuuuute” sign) and said to us, “I love it when I get tables with kids!”  I think that there was a collective sigh of relief from my husband and I.  This was going to be enjoyable.  The kids got to order their meals right away (and our waitress even convinced my daughter that a shake wasn’t the greatest idea because it would fill up her tummy with bubbles so she wouldn’t be able to eat her yummy supper) and got their drinks in record time.  We had some time to figure out what we wanted and play finger puppet theatre (a pen in the purse is always essential) while waiting to order and then get our dinner.  It was only a short while before we got our salad and bread sticks (all you can eat, with your meal).  This was great to tide the kids over until their meal arrived.

Our dinner was lovely.  We were topped up with our bread sticks, which the kids greatly enjoyed with their kids’ meals.  We had fabulous service and really enjoyed the family-friendly atmosphere where we didn’t feel like our kids had to be shushed if they made any noise and we even knew that our waitress was enjoying serving and talking with them.

We were in and out in under forty-five minutes, with desserts to go (as we were late for a soccer game).  A tear-free everyone-fed trip… Success!

While I was perusing my menu I learned that kids eat for free on Mondays, with the purchase of an adult entrée!  It is a super deal!  And when Mario says “The best things in life eat free”… well, he’s right… on Mondays at East Side Mario’s, at least.
