Rebecca, of LookKamloops, reports with this unexpectedly and pleasantly addicting snack
Swiss Chard (or Kale or Collard Greens or whatever you’d like to experiment with!) Chips
For one large cookie sheet’s worth, use:
1 Bunch of Kale or 2 Large Swiss chard leaves
1 TBSP Olive Oil
Pinch of chunky kosher salt
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
1. Pick your fresh greens! Or buy them…

2. Cut into chip-sized pieces … I use the stems though many say to remove them.
3. Toss in a bowl with olive oil to coat all pieces…..
4. Lay flat on a baking sheet…. I use parchment paper to make it a two-dishes-to-wash recipe (bowl and knife:)
5. Sprinkle with chunky salt.

6. Bake in 300 degree oven for 20 min.
7. Remove and see if they last longer than 5-10 minutes in your house. Mmmmmmmmm…….
So, I preferred the kale, but my daughter prefers the chard…. It is amazing how much deep, toasted, nutty flavour comes out of these greens! Easy on the salt, don’t need much:)

Kale chips are great! My kids actually ask for me to buy kale so we can make a batch of them. go figure!

Great idea, Rebecca! I don’t have anything like that in my garden this year but I wonder what beet leaves would be like? My baba used to use them for all sorts of things.
