Peppermint Bark

A few years ago, I came across this recipe and it has become a holiday favorite.  It only has a few steps so it is easy to make.

2 packages white chocolate chips

8 large candy canes

½ tsp peppermint oil

First, I prepped the cookie sheet by placing wax paper over the surface.  You can use parchment paper if you have it.

Second, I placed the candy canes into a Ziploc bag and crushed them with a rolling pin.  Your kids could help unwrap the canes and crush them.

Third, I placed the chocolate chips into a metal bowl and placed the metal bowl into a pot of simmering water on the stove. On a low heat, I continued to stir until the chips are melted.

Forth,  I mixed the peppermint oil, crushed candy canes (reserving a bit of candy cane to sprinkle on the top) into the melted chocolate.

Fifth, I poured the mixture onto the cookie sheet, spread  it out and sprinkled with reserved candy cane bits.  Finally, cool, break into pieces and store.  To store, wrap it in waxed paper and saran wrap and place into an airtight container.  Store in the freezer until needed.
