Kamloops Child Development Centre (KCDC) will host its 2nd Annual Dandelion Gala on Saturday, March 11 at 6:30 at The Dunes. The event will benefit the nonprofit early childhood-education centre with funds going to support the creation of our nature-based Forest Playground. This includes assistive technologies that will provide the children at the Centre with a greater quality of independence.
The evening will begin with an open bar cocktail reception where guests will have a chance to mingle, bid in the silent auction, or move over to the photo booth to express themselves and create some memories. The cocktail reception will be followed by dinner, live auction and an evening of dancing to the captivating sounds of Stan Bailly DJ Services.
Special guests at the Dandelion Gala will be Tangie Genshorek and Cam MacQuarrie of Scaled Space Design. Their company has created a design overview of the new Forest Playground space. Says Cam, “”Scaled Space Studio is excited to work with the dynamic people at KCDC to create a forest playground. The natural design includes a tree house and water feature inspired by our local surroundings.”
There is a worldwide movement to increase children’s experiences with nature and this is something that Education Director, Helen Blair, is familiar with. “Science has shown that when we connect with nature, we’re smarter, healthier and even more generous. Our Forest Playground is a dream come true for our centre. It’s the space where our vision becomes a reality.”
In keeping with its history and dedication to inclusivity, the children at Kamloops Child Development Centre include typical children and those with special needs, behaviours, exceptionalities and traumas. The nonprofit provides a nature-based network of support and care for children at all stages of development.
The ticket price for the party is just $25 and donations to their silent auction or sponsorship are always welcome.
