Henry Small to emcee opening reception at Old Courthouse Cultural Centre
Plenty of original, affordable artwork by area artists will be unveiled at the Kamloops Arts Council’s Art Exposed Regional Exhibition, which opens at a reception this Friday, March 9 from 5-8pm at the Old Courthouse (7 Seymour Street West).
Local musician and personality Henry Small will emcee. Many know Henry as a performer, radio DJ and producer of Music in the Park; as the Kamloops Arts Council celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2018, Henry will speak about his involvement with the KAC over the years.
This year, Art Exposed features works by more than 135 regional artists, from youth to senior. The exhibition runs daily to March 17, 10am to 5pm.
Over $1100 in cash prizes will be awarded at the Opening Reception. This year’s jurors are visual artist Tim Francis, local artist Christine Beaton and artist / co-owner of 4Cats Arts Studio Michael O’Brien.
New this year is a special $500 #BCStrong prize sponsored by the TNRD to commemorate the 2017 wildfires. People’s Choice and Artist’s Choice will be awarded at the end of the exhibit.
All are welcome to the Opening Reception, which features refreshments and local wine (cash bar); presentations will begin at 6pm.
