A strong earthy, deep-rooted loving red to represent the parents, and a fresh, soft new-born green to represent the young children (the subtle sage green of Kamloops hills). The red leaves of the logo are the parents: a couple, a mother (pregnant as shown by the 'bump' on the leaf) and a single parent. The children are between them and together the entire Kamloops “family' is centred/grounded by one focal point—family living and unity. As a team they present an exuberant yet simple flower... which speaks to a harmonious life and what true beauty really is all about—our relationships with eachother. The logo also evokes a sense of movement... the action and activity of a family in motion, “doing' things together.

May 26th Open House

BIG Little Science Centre celebrates move to larger location with a Grand Opening
Saturday May 26 2012
1pm to 4pm
Free Entry
Now located in George Hilliard School
985 Holt Street
Kamloops, B.C.
With twice the space the BIG Little Science Centre is excited to announce that we now have
over 140 hands-on exhibits in the three Exploration Rooms, three laboratory rooms for group use and
more fantastic interactive science than ever before.
We invite the public, and all of our friends and supporters to come to help us celebrate
our Grand Opening this Saturday May 26 from 1pm to 4pm.
Over the afternoon we will have special science fun, the Light and Colour Room and time in the
Exploration Rooms for everyone.
.
Assistant Operator, Susan Hammond says, “with more room we have plenty of space for the exhibits, for
guests, activities and our beloved science displays. We moved in September 2011 and have had the fall and
winter time to find locations for all the exhibits and to really start to feel at home. Reaction from the
community has been absolutely positive and supportive of our new centre. This past Saturday May 12th, we
even had our 100,000th visitor, with Landon Dick and his family Krista, Jaydan and Szachary. The BIG
Little Science Centre is open year round to school groups, the public, for birthday parties and special
events. Plus we run summer camps for general science and robotics. We have more going on in our new
location than was ever possible before. School District #73 and sponsors such as NewGold, Teck, and the
general public have been incredibly helpful in making BIG Little Science Centre THE place to discover
and explore fun science for everyone, in Kamloops and beyond.
