A strong earthy, deep-rooted loving red to represent the parents, and a fresh, soft new-born green to represent the young children (the subtle sage green of Kamloops hills). The red leaves of the logo are the parents: a couple, a mother (pregnant as shown by the 'bump' on the leaf) and a single parent. The children are between them and together the entire Kamloops family' is centred/grounded by one focal pointfamily living and unity. As a team they present an exuberant yet simple flower... which speaks to a harmonious life and what true beauty really is all aboutour relationships with eachother. The logo also evokes a sense of movement... the action and activity of a family in motion, doing' things together.

We asked the Been There Done That Squad some of their favourite screenless acitivities and they answered…

Elizabeth

We love playing games together while we sit around the table or on the living room floor.  We also love giving our kids mini manicures or petite pedicures.  Watching them giggle and squirm as they have their little toes tickled while their hands and feet are rubbed and treated never ceases to make my heart happy.  Our total favourite, though… having wild dance parties in our living room.  Throw in a package of glow sticks, crank the tunes and we always have a great time and get our bodies movin’!

Angela

Playing board games or going to watch a sporting event. Now that the littlest ones are just a bit older, I would like to take in more local sports this year.

Francy

Elliott loves to visit the downtown library, pick as many books as he can imagine, and sit in the family corner to read.

Alison

Our favourite non-screen time activities can be split into home, and outings. At home, we love to play games, whether it’s hide and seek, or M is teaching K to play chess! For outings, we love the climbing gym, swimming, or just browsing the books at Chapter’s.

Sarah, Mom of three little men writes,
I am addicted to Pinterest! Yep, let me say that again, I am addicted to Pinterest!
This idea I am about to post came from there.
My kids love cars, they love driving them on EVERYTHING! They also hate being stuck inside.  We were recently all sick and not really wanting to venture far (thus keeping our germs to ourselves).  I found this great idea on pintrest where you take a roll of masking tape and make a road all over your floor and furniture!

The Been There Done That Squad recently answered their favourite winter outings.  There are lots of good ideas in here!!

Angela

Well I’d like to say that going sledding is the favourite activity and it probably is, except for the fact that no matter how many layers I put on, I am always freezing.  But the kids have a blast and the smiles on their faces and the deep laughter  you can hear as they zoom down the hill is worth it so I will take one for the team! Too bad there’s not much for snow this year!

Francy

Our favorite winter activity these days is at Paul Lake Provincial Park!  We park at the top gate, and bring our sled (usually snow up there!) and our little guy sleds down to the lake.  We like to have a picnic down at the lake. He is pretty good about hiking back up, with a little bit of pulling on the sled from Dad.

Alison
This year we took the boys to Harper Mountain for some tubing, and it was a hit with K! He is now old enough that he can do the whole “loop” himself. We all went together a few times, with someone helping R, but K was really independent and loved it. He has been asking when we can go back. Another winter outing that I want to get back to is cross-country skiing. We haven’t been yet with the boys, but I started when I was only 4, so I figure now would be a great time to start them. And financially, it’s so much cheaper than downhill! With Stake Lake so close, and nearby schools we can venture to, it’s an easy outing – of course, some snow would help!!

We were chilling out at home and I wanted to give my kids something interesting to do so that I could have a few minutes to get some work done, so we whipped up these little babies….
