A strong earthy, deep-rooted loving red to represent the parents, and a fresh, soft new-born green to represent the young children (the subtle sage green of Kamloops hills). The red leaves of the logo are the parents: a couple, a mother (pregnant as shown by the 'bump' on the leaf) and a single parent. The children are between them and together the entire Kamloops “family' is centred/grounded by one focal point—family living and unity. As a team they present an exuberant yet simple flower... which speaks to a harmonious life and what true beauty really is all about—our relationships with eachother. The logo also evokes a sense of movement... the action and activity of a family in motion, “doing' things together.

Before I share this easy and delicious recipe for “short-cut” cinnamon buns, I have to give a shout-out to my good friend, Deb, for introducing me to this recipe many years ago.  It’s since become a favorite in my family, particularly on Christmas morning.  I thought of sharing it now, because recently I made it for Easter morning as well!

Anyway, I was curious about how the recipe got its name, and was wondering if it was just something my friend created, but apparently this recipe can be found in Best of Bridge, and several other places on-line.  I couldn’t find the origin of the name, so if someone finds it, please share!

Regardless, t’s just a great treat you can prepare the night before a special day, and bake the next day.  And it’s a great one for kids to help with!

Book: The Crunching Munching Caterpillar

Author: Sheridan Cain

Illustrator: Jack Tickle

For Ages: 2-5

Where to Get it: This book is available to purchase in store or online at Chapters; and online at Amazon.

This book was a gift to my now 18-month old, on her 1st birthday.  Of course, my four-year old loved it and now that her little sister will sit still for more than two minutes, she’s starting to enjoy it too!  Just in time too, since Spring is right around the corner, and this book evokes wonderful images of Spring!

Caterpillar longs to have wings of his own, just like the other creatures in nature – the bumblebee, sparrow… but especially the beautiful butterfly!  He “crunches and munches” leaves and watches them soaring in the air.  But his friend, the butterfly, knows a secret and tells Caterpillar to take a nice, long nap, and he does.  After his long, deep winter sleep, Caterpillar awakens to find he’s transformed into a beautiful butterfly as well!

A great book to read with younger children, as they will love the bright color illustrations and older kids will learn how caterpillars transform into butterflies.

This author also wrote Little Turtle And the Song of the Sea.

The other day I was tidying up a junk drawer when I came across a roll of painter’s tape and an image flashed across my mind, from somewhere on Pinterest.

I gathered the troops and sent them on their mission…

Easy and Awesome!

…that is, until I had to use the facilities and forgot that my path was blocked.

Hey, I had loads of fun, too!
