Here’s a great activity that you can do right in your own backyard. Takes just a few minutes to think about and set up and you can re-create an entirely different one another day. On your mark…..get set…..GO!
I created a simple obstacle course for my 2.5 and almost 4 year old right in our backyard. I let them help me design it, we walked through it together and then I started the stopwatch and watched them run through the different stations.
The first one was a number of jumping jacks on mats (yes, my youngest saw yoga mats and did a “downward facing dog” pose at first):

Here’s a little activity I decided to do with the kids to help them learn about different tastes and textures.
I cut up some fruit (clementines, red apples, green apples, kiwi, strawberries and a lemon) and placed them on a tray.
Then I explained the experiment and put a blindfold on my 3.5 year old.

Based on the popular children’s books by Belgian author Gabrielle Vincent, this exquisitely crafted animated film tells the tale of an unlikely friendship that spans worlds and species, and recreates the picture books’ lush and expressive watercolour illustrations.
J. (3 years old) and K. (2 years old) visited the North Kamloops Library earlier this week to check out the facilities and see what activities they had to offer.Â
The North Kamloops Library has a wonderful section dedicated especially for young children. An entire bookcase contains books for young readers, which are divided into levels (1 to 4) with a clear explanation of each level. Â Two oversized comfy chairs have been conveniently placed against the back wall so that you can relax and read to your little ones.
Also in the children’s section are three desktop computers loaded with child appropriate software. My 3 year old enjoyed several “memory” games on the computer, his favorite!
