Last week my husband and I managed to escape for a few hours.  We wanted something sweet but not too filling.

We wanted to be able to talk and yet weren’t wanting to pay a bunch for the atmosphere of a fancy restaurant.

We just wanted to be together and eat dessert, really.

So, we headed for Tutti Frutti Frozen Yogurt.

Located near Save On, off Summit Drive, you can’t miss the brightly coloured sign of Tutti Frutti Fro Yo!  The delicious frozen yogurt flavours change regularly; mocha, raspberry, mango sorbet, salted caramel and more.  The serve-yourself fountain option is always a pleasure and the pick-your-own-toppings is terrific too!

Experience.

I have kinda been singing this tune for a while.  I guess it’s because I haven’t felt like spending a lot of money on stuff in the last few years of my life. I feel like I have too much of it, I guess.  For Christmas, my husband and I give our children the give of a date per month.  It’s quality time, special for each of them, squeezed into the reality of two-full-time-working-parents-and-a-busy-household.  It’s kinda crazy sometimes, and sometimes the dates are late… but they happen.  And they are great.

We love giving other recipients the gift of experience, as well.  Precious connections.  Moments spent making memories.

One such marvelous experience in Kamloops is live theatre.  Western Canada Theatre’s 2012/2013 lineup is a terrific one.

I am looking forward to laughing and crying through the productions that are to come.
This Christmas, consider giving the gift of experience.  The gift of theatre!

If you would like to win a pair of tickets to attend a mainstage production with the WCT theatre, please leave a comment here and we will draw a winner on Thursday, December 20th, after 8pm.  Daily comments are okay, so enter often if you really want to win!

I don’t like seeing large amounts of garbage in the bins in my classroom.  My students are pretty diligent at recycling and at making sure that they properly sort their recycling but it never ceases the amount of ziplock bags that are used in a week!  From time to time we conduct waste-free lunch weeks, to try and increase awareness on the amount of waste packaging that we dump into the garbage.  It’s so awesome to see how much you can reduce when you set your mind to it.

One of the steps that a number of my students have taken is fabric bags!  I have invested in a few myself, and have bought them online from the US and one in Canada.  Imagine my excitement when I learned that there are a pair of local moms making and selling terrific lunch bag kits!

“My name is Dawnica Flatt and some of you might know me from Snug Glee Bumz Diaper service.

What some of you might not know is that I am also local Stampin`Up! Demonstrator here in Kamloops. I started stamping almost 10 years ago and love giving the gift of a handmade gift or card. I have many friends and relatives who wait for my cards every year to see what I`ve been making or what`s my most recent favourite stamp or embellishment.

For those of you who have entered the world of scrapbooking/paper crafting, you know what I’m talking about. For those who may not know what an embellishment is or even where to start, what are you waiting for? Paper crafting is something that you can do with your kids, can preserve memories and can even play a huge part in home decor and gift giving. The possibilities are endless really…….handmade wedding invites, party favours, place settings, birthday party treat bags, fabric stamping……….and the list continues.
