Kicking off the 2016 Dirty Feet Race Series with the Family

Our family took part in the North Face Dirty Feet Snowshoe Fun Run/Walk at Stake Lake last Sunday. It was our second year participating in this fun 5km event on the snowshoe trails maintained by the Overlander Ski Club and the conditions were excellent!

We were greeted with a beautiful, sunny morning and plenty of fresh powder when we arrived at Stake Lake that day.  Vehicles and drivers generously provided by River City Nissan shuttled us (and all of our gear!) from the parking lot to the location of the start of the race.

Of course, we took the customary pre-race photo before we set off on our snowshoeing adventure as a family, along with just under 100 other participants!RSCN3842

I raced with our 6 year old, while my husband stuck to the back with our 5 year old as she tends to check things out at a much slower pace. My son kept up the pace by chatting with me throughout the race, singing songs and even surprising me with periodically running 10 second intervals!DSCN3832
