Barb’s Used Book & Music Sale Moves To A New Home This Fall

Our popular fundraiser is back for the fall, and it has a new home: Lansdowne Village. We will be in the old Fields location, near Spitfire Computers, across from Senor Froggy’s. The sale will be running from Saturday, November 11 to Saturday, November 25.

New Gold Chamber Music this Weekend

Hear the program created by Marea Chernoff, oboe; Olivia Martin,unnamedbassoon; and Naomi Cloutier, piano, this Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Alumni Theatre at TRU at 7:30 pm.

The title, Three Wildflowers, comes from the name of one the works on the program: The Wildflower Trio by American composer Jenni Brandon. She was commissioned to write the work to honour and celebrate the life and environmental work of Lady Bird Johnson. Other works are by Medeleine Dring, Henri Brod, and Canadian bassoonist/pianist/composer Bill Douglas.

Performances in the New Gold Chamber Music Series place the spotlight on the individual musicians of the Kamloops Symphony. They shine in these small ensembles!

Kamloops Symphony Presents: Yankee Doodle Dandies

This is a great opportunity to experience the Vancouver based wind quartet Ventos showcasing a variety of music composed for wind quartet by American composers.  Drawing from American compositional styles, including jazz and blues to rock and 20th century classical music, this concert is sure to delight audiences young and old.

Jodi is originally from Montréal, Quebec but spent a few years in Northern New Brunswick after graduating from University. She moved to Kamloops in the Spring of 2010 with her family and works as an educational assistant. Her 7 and 8 year old keep her really busy as they love exploring the area and enjoying what Kamloops has to offer!

Celebrate Christmas With the KSO

Kamloops Symphony will be joined by 16-year-old Julien Haynes for Christmas with the KSO.

Haynes is the Kamloops Festival of the Performing Arts Symphony Julien HaynesAward winner. He has been studying violin since he could hold one. A regular provincial-level competitor, Haynes also received Best of Festival in Penticton in 2014 and Most Promising Performer in Kelowna. He will join Kamloops Symphony for this performance as the violin soloist.

Other young performers will also join Kamloops Symphony musicians on stage. The Kamloops Symphony Music School’s Youth String Orchestra will play alongside professional musicians for all but one piece in the programme. Kamloops Symphony Presents: Angel’s-Transcending Time

Kamloops Symphony’s second Chamber Music Series performance 1551567_871547039543497_593341021535800837_nis coming up on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the TRU Alumni Theatre. Kamloops Symphony Orchestra (KSO) Chamber Musicians Sally Arai, Naomi Cloutier, Cvetozar Vutev and Martin Kratky make up this unusual quartet.

Angels will hover over this music during these three works. The first, Walter Rabl’s Quartet for clarinet, violin, cello and piano, is one of only two chamber works Rabl composed. Listeners will hear the Brahms influence during the piece that was composed in 1896.
