Spark! Kamloops

First-ever community-created app to hit worldwide App Store!
June 26, 2012 (Kamloops) – Spark! Kamloops will be the first iPhone app on the worldwide App Store to showcase the collective efforts of a community. People of all ages, families, groups and businesses from Kamloops are invited to be part of Spark! Kamloops.
“The original Spark! app was a collection of questions my husband and I came up with around the dinner table to get our kids story-telling and now the questions live in 49 countries, such as Egypt and Guatemala,” says Spark Your Imagination co-owner Tamara Vukusic. “This is an opportunity for everyone in Kamloops to share something very valuable and personal – their imagination – with others around the globe.”
“Spark! Kamloops will showcase Kamloops to 155 countries on the App Store as an innovative, family-friendly community with high tech capabilities,” adds co-owner Erin Brule. “And, all proceeds from the $.99 app will go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kamloops & Region”.
Studi09 creative agency is contributing graphic design and high tech talent to develop the app. “When we heard word of this project we immediately wanted to be part of it,” says Studi09 co-owner Tami MacKinnon.  “Kamloopsians can support Big Brothers and Big Sisters by contributing their imagination.”
Twenty students from a 2nd year TRU fundraising class – under the leadership of Prof. David Carter – contributed their ideas to the project as part of a class assignment.
In keeping with the original Spark! app, story starters submitted should be open-ended with no right or wrong answers. The more fun, silly or playful, the better! References to Kamloops places, events and attractions are encouraged. A panel of kids will select the final questions to be included.   Acknowledgement will be given to the person or organization for their submission.
