Holly Wreath Cookies

Thank you to Kammi for sharing her family tradition and recipe with us!

My mom used to make these fun, festive cookies each year and I have now started the same tradition with my kids.  I recently made them for the first time with my two kids (ages 5-1/2 and 3-1/2) for my daughters’ Sparks Holly Tea Craft Sale.  My daughter has always been a sensory child who loves to feel different materials with her fingers, so if your child loves the feel of play-doh or clay then this is a great recipe for them to work with.  When she saw we were able to squish butter between our fingers in order for the mixture to not stick she was over the moon with excitement.  My son is a big fan of the color green and was pretty amazed how we used food coloring in order to change the white marshmallow goo into green wreaths.  These cookies are easy peasy to make with kiddos of all ages and just as fun to eat…almost like eating a gooy smore in the summer, only these have a festive look to them.

Ingredients

1 stick of butter

35 large marshmallows

1 tsp. vanilla

4 cups corn flakes

Green food coloring

Red M&M’s (or red hots)
