11th Annual Power of Being a Girl

Being a Girl Conference, taking place on Wednesday, October 19th, 2016. This free one-day conference for girls aged 12-14 is designed by girls for girls, and invites participants to explore the challenges of growing up, in a fun and empowering way. Girls are powerful and this year’s inspiring workshop choices, allow participants to explore the healthy ways they can find, keep, and share that power. PBG includes a full day of fun, lunch, prizes, and two workshop choices, ranging from:

MEDIA BUSTING WORKSHOP: Come explore how the media influences how we see ourselves. Girls will examine how body image issues develop and how we can protect ourselves from societal pressure. Barbie will be making an appearance in this creative, arts based workshop.

HATS OF INDIVIDUALITY WORKSHOP: Using the artistic medium

Children Celebrating Culture

During Culture Days, the non-profit Kamloops Child Development
Centre will join with other groups to celebrate the many cultures that make up BC — and Kamloops. On Sept. 30, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., each classroom in our centre at 157 Holway St. will welcome Kamloopsians to come in and see how our children and teaching staff are focusing on cultures that have relevance to us, including those of the Japanese, Hindi, First Nations and African worlds.
