Is your child entering a school band this September? Want to give them a headstart? Enroll them in Beginning Band at Summer Music Camp at Kamloops Interior School of Music (KISSM) this summer! It’s essentially one year of intensive music instruction in three weeks.
No previous music experience required, the Beginning Band Program offers large group as well as sectional group instruction for percussion and woodwind instruments. Students will learn how to assemble and care for their instrument in addition to learning how to read music.
Students taking part in the Beginning Band Program will start their day with a World Drumming Class. Designed to introduce students to our new KISSM fleet of djembes, tubanos, congas and more! During the first part of the morning, students will receive large and small group instruction that will cover rhythm reading, drumming skills and drum compositions for drum circles.
Here is a quote from a former attendee of one of KISSM‘s Summer Camp Program:
Wow…so many of them (memories)! KISSM is one of the premier music opportunities for students in the country. It promotes opportunity, growth, showcasing abilities and really trying something new. I remember musical theatre, band class, great fun singing with amazingly talented people…and making a ton of great friends.
The dates for KISSM2013: July 8-26, 2013
Camp hours are Monday – Friday 8:30am – 2:45pm
Location: Beattie School of the Arts (JP Campus) on 9th Ave. Kamloops, BC, Canada.
