There is a particular store that sells the most delicious flaky cinnamon buns. I could eat the whole platter. They are perfect for anytime, and for a hostess gift. Well, they are perfect to make, too!!
2 cups flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 cup butter (may use margarine)
2/3 cup milk
Combine dry ingredients, cut in butter with pastry knife.
2-4 T. butter, melted
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 T. ground cinnamon ( I double this sometimes)
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. orange peel (opt.)
Spread evenly onto dough, leaving 1-2′ space at bottom of rectangle.
Roll up, tucking corners in. Slice into 16 sections. Place in pan or greased muffin tins. Bake at 425 degrees for 15 min.
1 cup powdered sugar
2 T. cream cheese, softened
1 T. butter, softened
dash vanilla (the real stuff if possible)
1-2 tablespoons milk
