A FREE week-long video art exhibition, Luminocity showcases video  projects by artists from across the country in unexpected public spaces throughout the downtown core of Kamloops and is presented every two years.Luminocity is coming to Kamloops audiences again this fall, October 12 to 20.

As an off-site Kamloops Art Gallery initiative, Luminocity embraces new creative concepts and modes of expression in the media arts field and brings recent video projects previously shown primarily in gallery settings to the outdoors.

Inspired by popular public art events such as Nuit Blanche that take over major cities like Toronto and Montréal, Luminocity transforms Kamloops’ urban environment with video projections on the façades of buildings and from windows, along with site-specific installations at Riverside Park and performances and evening events in the Rotary Bandshell at Riverside Park. This year the Gallery partners with BrewLoops and Factotum for opening and closing nights of music and beer and hosts video screenings and artist performances throughout the week.

Luminocity lights up the city again with a selection of diverse multi-media work by artists based across the country and from here at home. Highlighting themes materializing in current video practices, many projects feature female protagonists, explore Asian folklore and examine traditional Indigenous practices and our relationship with them today. A number of the videos probe fantastical stories of other worlds, at times ghostly and dark.

Download and follow the Luminocity map at to guide you through nine evenings of urban transformation and insightful encounters.
