Interior Savings Unplug and Play Family Literacy Week
January 31, 2015Free
On January 27, 2015, Canadians from coast-to-coast will have 15 minutes of fun in support of Family Literacy Day®, an annual initiative developed by ABC Life Literacy Canada to encourage parents, children, teens and seniors to spend at least 15 minutes enjoying a learning activity every day.
In our own community, Interior Savings presents “Unplug and Play Family Literacy Week January 24 to 31, 2015 in partnership with Literacy in Kamloops, the City of Kamloops, KELLI, School District 73, and many other organizations.
Together we are creating an Unplug and Play Schedule of events. This will include activities and events families can participate in during Family Literacy Week. We invite you to celebrate Family Literacy Week with us by organizing an activity or hosting an event that brings families together. Family Literacy Week is about learning together as a family in fun and different ways. There are many ways to practice literacy together as a family – following a recipe, singing a song or playing a game are just a few ways to engage in literacy activities. Organized by the numerous partners of the ABC Family Literacy Day Committee, this day is filled with fun for families with young children. Many guest storytellers, singers, musicians, and athletes will interact with families. Every child will leave with a “new to me” book donated in the Heap the Honda challenge.
Join us to celebrate family literacy together!
